The implementation of the warehouse management system of Metasyst at the state of the art and efficient central warehouse of LIBRO, PAGRO and eplus in the business park Müllendorf is completed. Following the final steps in the construction work, the test phase was launched in June. From 1 September the three MTH trading concerns LIBRO, PAGRO and eplus will be supplied from the Müllendorf site near Eisenstadt.
Just months after the topping-out
ceremony in December 2010, the current test phase of the logistics center has
kicked off. Recently, MTH board chairman Dr. Josef Taus and the executive board
of the MTH Retail Group were able to see for themselves that the project is
right on schedule and within budget.
During the inspection of the approximately 23.000 sqm building, numerous innovative features in warehouse management, order picking, etc. were also examined closely. To this end Metasyst Informatik supplies its most successful product, the METALAG WMS. At the Pagro warehouse in Rannersdorf and the eplus warehouse in Leobersdorf the system is already being used successfully and is linked to the ERP system of REWE and SAP with interfaces.
Günther Laber, project director at Metasyst: “We have supplemented our Metalag-Retail-WMS in this project with several innovative facets, enabling effective delivery to branches in cooperation with the automatic and semi automatic processes and additionally totally integrating the manual warehouse areas.”
New logistics center declared „state of the art project”
In order to fulfil the requirements of a
central warehouse for the whole Austrian market, the logistics center is
equipped with the latest order picking systems. Here the WMS implemented by Metasyst
imposes new standards regarding warehouse logistics software.
“The new warehouse is a state of the art project”, explains MTH-CEO Dr. Martin Waldhäusl. “The automatic high rise racking store has about 17.000 pallet slots approximately 26 meters above ground level and 20.000 items per hour can be delivered via the state of the art sorting system.” From now on the manual warehouse processes will be controlled paperlessly by radio scanning terminals.
Central warehouse will deliver the Austrian market from September
The new logistics center will take over the goods storage and branch and customer oriented order picking, dispatch and transportation for the branches of LIBRO and PAGRO, as well as dispatch for eplus. On completion the warehouse will offer work places for 90 employees – the long-term plan is to employ around 125 employees. The construction project is being facilitated by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the state and the federal state of Burgenland. The funding amounts to approx. 12%.
